Welcome to the October 2006 edition of the new style BCS Oxfordshire newsletter.

Our biennial schools web competition was launched on Monday 16 October - scroll down for more details.

We hope to see you at our October meeting, which is a special joint session with BCS North Wales & Chester Branch, over a video conference link.

next event 26 October: Climate Prediction and Digital Preservation: Predicting the Future and Preserving the Past

This meeting will look at what could be two of the biggest problems facing society and will explore some possible approaches.

We'll be at the Rutherford Appleton lab using a video link to the Daresbury lab.

Please note time and location: refreshments from 18:15 for a 19:00 start, in the Pickavance Lecture theatre at the Rutherford Appleton lab near Harwell.

News ..... 2007 Schools Web Competition launched

download Web Competition poster Do you have, or do you have friends who have, children at a school in Oxfordshire?
Or are you involved with schools in the county as an assistant, a teacher, governor or in some other capacity?

If so, make sure they know about the 2007 BCS Oxfordshire Schools Web Competition, which was officially announced on 16 October.

The competition is always great fun for everyone involved. This year we have even more sponsors who are donating prizes, so the competition should be bigger and better than ever.
