 ynopsis:\nIn this talk\, Daisy Shearer from the National Quantum Computing
  Centre (NQCC) will provide an overview of quantum computing and how this 
 emerging technology is expected to impact society. We will explore the qua
 ntum physics features that underpin quantum computing\, the differences be
 tween classical and quantum computing\, how to create a quantum bit and bu
 ilding quantum algorithms.\nAbout Daisy Shearer:\nDaisy Shearer is a passi
 onate science communicator and educator with a drive to make STEM more acc
 essible and inclusive\, particularly for disabled and neurodivergent peopl
 e. With a background in experimental condensed matter physics\, Daisy comb
 ines a deep technical knowledge of quantum technology with a passion for t
 eaching and public engagement to translate quantum computing concepts for 
 a variety of audiences. At the NQCC\, Daisy leads strategy\, facilitation
 \, delivery and practitioner research on education\, outreach and public e
 ngagement to support the centre's work on the development of the quantum w
 orkforce in the UK and improving public understanding of quantum computing
  topics.\nAbout the NQCC:\nThe NQCC is the UK's national lab for quantu
 m computing and a flagship programme of UK Research and Innovation and an 
 integral part of the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme. The cent
 re operates within a wider landscape for quantum technologies developmen
 t in the UK\, and works with partners across industry\, government and t
 he research community to solve technology challenges and realise the bene
 fits of quantum computers for social and economic development.
