SUMMARY:Digital Engineering
DESCRIPTION:\n\nAndrew Davis\, Head of Advanced Engineering Simulation (UKA
EA)\nFusion energy holds the promise of virtually unlimited supplies of lo
w-carbon\, low-radiation energy.  To achieve the vision of fusion energy
on the national grid\, digital engineering needs to help optimise the desi
gn\, operation and maintenance of fusion power plants and systems.  This
talk will outline how digital engineering is being used to tackle this cha
llenge.  Digital engineering covers the gamut of computer aided design (C
 AD)\, meshing\, computing\, software development\, modelling\, data proven
ance\, and digital twins.  It is the glue which will bring together aspec
 ts of fusion modelling (plasma\, materials\, radiation\, mechanical\, ther
mal etc) into one coherent place to allow actionable and optimised fusion
component design to be realised.\nAbout Andrew Davis\nAndy has had a long
career in nuclear physics and the application of digital technologies.  H
is current work focusses on advanced engineering simulation for fusion ene
 rgy research.
