SUMMARY:Using the Raspberry Pi and other commodity technology to engage the
  public in science
DESCRIPTION:\nDr Mark Bashham\, Rosalind Franklin Institute\nTechnology ca
 n be used to create some amazing demonstrations\, and these can often be u
 sed to describe complex scientific processes. Using commodity technologies
  such as Lego and Raspberry Pis to conduct such demonstrations can help to
  demystify these complex processes. In this talk\, Mark will show some exa
 mples of systems that he has used at both the Diamond Light Source and the
  Rosalind Franklin Institute.\n\nBio:\nMark is Head of Artificial Intellig
 ence and Informatics at the Rosalind Franklin Institute\, and a Research F
 ellow at the Diamond Light Source\, both located on the Harwell campus in
 South Oxfordshire.  Mark has a real passion for scientific communication\
 ; he is the creator of the Lego Beamline (#legobeamline) and co-creator of
  Diamond the Game and the Raspberry Pi Beamline\, all of which are tools p
