DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe BCS Oxfordshire is pleased to announce the 3rd annual W
 omen in IT Event in Oxfordshire.\n\nThe hybrid event will be held on Wedne
 sday 9th October the day after Ada Lovelace day with talks from academia a
 nd industry followed by a networking session.\n\nThis event hopes to bring
  together women from across all stages of their careers in technology\, pr
 oviding a forum to share experiences and promote the retention and empower
 ment of women in the IT industry.\n\nThis event will continue the success 
 of the previous events in 2023 and 2022.\n\nTalks will take place from 18:
 00 - 19:30 in hybrid\, after which there will be an in person networking e

 al Teaching Fellow\, awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding i
 mpact on student outcomes and the teaching profession. Samia has demonstra
 ted a longstanding commitment to helping all her learners reach their full
  potential. She has been recognised on a national level for her work and i
 mpact across the Institution to inspire and influence her colleagues.\n\nS
 amia in her role as Principal Lecturer for Student Experience is committed
  to exploring learning and teaching strategies suited to her discipline of
  Computer Science. Her championing of Computer Science pedagogy has helped
  to transform students’ experiences at Oxford Brookes University\, espec
 ially women in STEM subjects\, through her proactivism and advocacy for un
 derrepresented groups.\n\nSamia is also an Enterprise Education Fellow\, w
 here she leads enterprise and entrepreneurship education practices within 
 the curriculum with appropriate adaptations for different disciplines\, wh
 ich provides an integrated approach to entrepreneurship\, research\, and e
 nterprise within the curriculum and as part of our students’ broader dev
 elopment.\nTereza Malacova\nTereza has a BA in Philosophy\, Politics and E
 conomics from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Data Analytics from O
 xford Brookes University\, which became the first step in her transition f
 rom humanities to STEM. Following the completion of her Masters Degree\, s
 he began teaching at Oxford Brookes in an Associate Lecturer role last yea
 r and has newly become a Senior Lecturer in Computing.\n\nTereza also has 
 experience in 1-on-1 teaching as she has supervised a number of EPQ studen
 ts\, supporting their first steps into the world of research. Her own rese
 arch interests tend to combine computer science and the humanities\, consi
 dering issues of ethics\, economics\, or politics within computing applica
 tions. Her research is currently focused on sentiment analysis of newspape
 r headlines of articles concerning Ukraine\, and analysing the resulting s
 entiments. She has previously explored racial biases in AI and hopes to co
 ntinue engaging with issues of diversity and inclusion in the future.\nRac
 hel Keane\nRachel Keane is the founder of Data Inspiration Group\, launche
 d in July 2021 to empower students in secondary and tertiary education wit
 h data literacy skills and virtual work experience. With over 12 years in 
 data recruitment\, Rachel recognised the industry's challenges in building
  diverse and inclusive teams\, as well as the knowledge gap among young pe
 ople regarding data careers. Under her leadership\, the group has grown to
  16\,000 student members\, with education partnerships spanning 2\,500 sch
 ools\, 105 universities\, and providing virtual work experience opportunit
 ies with leading UK brands like GSK\, HSBC\, NHS\, and more\, shaping the 
 future of data talent across the UK.\nVicky Pike\nWith extensive experienc
 e across the private\, public\, and third sectors\, Vicky is a Twenty Wome
 n in Data® awardee\, a Senior Coach Practitioner with ILM L7 and a Comput
 er Science graduate. Vicky has spearheaded numerous initiatives that signi
 ficantly improved gender diversity and inclusion within tech teams. Follow
 ing a successful tenure as a senior leader at Sainsbury’s\, she founded 
 Ideara to help organisations get the most from their people\, teams\, and 
 technology.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nHybrid Meeting\n\nThis event will be held both
  “in person” and “via Zoom”.\n\n“In Person” Logistics\n\nThe 
 “in person” meeting will be held at: CLC1.12 Learning Studio\, Clerici
  Building\, Oxford Brookes University. The meeting will commence at 6:00pm
