BCS Berkshire Branch: Microsoft SQL Server Event (Monday 28 September 2009)

Join us in Bracknell for an evening of SQL Server with Colin Leversuch-Roberts. During the evening, Colin will be covering various SQL topics including:

  • What the Pivot Command can do for you
  • One reason to move to SQL 2008 ­ The Merge Statement ­ Or ­ how to upsert multiple tables in one  go.
  • What you might not know about transactions.
  • Why query plans are never quite that simple
  • Wide joins are not always the answer
  • How to display multiple result sets in a SSRS  Chart
  • Graphically displaying difficult result sets.

Colin has 18 years of database experience and has worked with SQL Server since v6.0. He began with a development background and has now worked as a production DBA for around 12 years. He tends to specialise in performance tuning and optimisation, as well as the usual code and index tuning. Further areas that he covers includes hardware and storage.
