What benefits can AI deliver to the world in the next 10 years? This will be the focus of a panel debate at a forthcoming international conference on artificial intelligence (AI-2016), at the University of Cambridge. The annual conference is organised by the AI specialist group (SGAI), part of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
Professor Max Bramer, Chair of the BCS SGAI says: “Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to alter every aspect of the lives of future generations. Our conference offers an exciting opportunity to review recent technical advances in AI technologies and how it has been applied to solve business problems. Delegates will be able to discuss their ideas with research staff working at the leading edge of AI developments from across the globe.”
The conference, which is now in its 36th year, will cover a range of topics including:
- A panel debate chaired by Andrew Lea, Fellow of BCS and Director of Primary Key Associates entitled: ‘What benefits can AI deliver to the world in the next 10 years?’
- A keynote lecture evaluating innovation that can be used to understand the impact and acceleration within artificial intelligence by Michael Gleaves, Deputy Director Hartree Centre, Science and Technology Facilities Council.
- A keynote lecture exploring over 20 years of artificial intelligence applications presented by Dr Stefan Wess, CEO of Empolis Information Management GmbH, Germany.
- An after dinner speech from Dr Rick Adderley, a retired West Midlands Police Inspector who served for 32 years in an operational capacity. Rick now specialises in profiling criminal activity.
AI-2016 is the leading series of the UK- based international conferences on artificial intelligence and the longest running AI conference series in Europe. The event has parallel technical and application streams.
